Clear Lake Lions still among the baseball leaders

The Clear Lake Lions picked up four wins last week, helping the team to a 5-3 record and keeping them among the leaders in Class 2A.  The Lions were the preseason number one pick, but dropped to number six this week after two losses in their opening week.

Cards bow out early from State Soccer

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura boys soccer team made school history this season with its first ever trip to the State Soccer Tournament.  It wasn’t the ending the Cardinals had hoped for at the State tournament, but they can hold their heads high for a valiant effort.

Davenport-Assumption, the third-seeded team at the tournament, defeated GHV, 6-0, on Thursday, June 1, at Cowie Soccer Park, in Des Moines.  The Cardinals were the sixth seed in the tournament.

Iowa Falls-Alden 6, CL 5

The Lions played a close game against the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets on Wednesday, May 31, but ultimately did not prevail.

The Lions played a close game against the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets on Wednesday, May 31, but ultimately did not prevail.

Iowa Falls-Alden knocked out Clear Lake, 3-0, in the opening round of Regional play Tuesday, May 30.

“What a game!  What a season!” said Clear Lake Coach Steve Faber.  “Tonight we battled hard but fell short.  This game was indicative of our season, with many games coming down to the wire.  Fighting hard to the final whistle, we couldn’t ask for more from our kids.”
