Joe Hansmeier

Joe Neal Hansmeier, 43, of Eagan, Minn., formerly of Clear Lake, died Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minn.

Per Joe’s wishes, his body has been cremated, and no services are planned at this time.

Family suggests memorial contributions to the Joe Hansmeier Memorial Fund.

Joe was born Aug. 4, 1973, the son of Marvin “Mick” and Deb (Stokesbary) Hansmeier, in Mason City.  He grew up and attended school in Eagan.

Scott Thomas Friest, 51, of Mason City, Iowa died Monday, May 9, 2017 at his home.

A gathering of friends and family will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, May 19, 2017, at the Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake, with Pastor Will Hunsaker officiating.  There will be a time of sharing and refreshments following the service at the Georgia Hanford Park, 22nd St. S.E., Mason City.

As in life Scott was a caring, loving person and even in death, he continued by donating to Iowa Donor Network.

GHV boys posting good times

West Hancock CoEd Relay

The Cardinals traveled to Britt on Tuesday, May 2, for the West Hancock CoEd Relays.  GHV finished at the bottom of the six-team meet with 48 points.  Central Springs edged West Hancock by just half a point to win the meet with 137.50 points.

The Cardinals picked up the top spots in the 1600 meter run with Reece Smith winning the event in 4:37.97 and Logan Dalbeck claiming runner-up honors in 4:38.91.
