Clear Lake and GHV compete in Class 2A Sectional Golf Tournament

Clear Lake’s Thomas Storbeck topped the field at the Class 2A Sectional Golf Tournament held at the Hampton Country Club Friday, May 12.   Teammates Kyle Calaguas and Jackson Hamlin followed as medalist runner-up and third place, propelling the Lions to a 42-stroke victory over runner-up Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, 330-372.

Cardinals take a hard hit against Denver

It was a tough night for the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura girls soccer team when they faced a talented Denver team on Friday, May 12.  The Cardinals took a hard hit, falling, 10-0.

“Denver is the best soccer team I have coached against when it comes to moving the ball and communicating on the field,” said Coach Josh Banse.  “They are well coached and you can tell they have been playing together for a long time.”

Clear Lake girls tennis team falls in Regional team competition

The Clear Lake girls tennis team kicked off the post-season by traveling to Decorah Saturday for Regional team competition.  Individual Regional play will take place Thursday, May 18.

The Lions faced Decorah in the first round of Regional team play.  There were several close matches, but ultimately the Lions fell, 5-2.

The Clear Lake girls tennis team kicked off the post-season by traveling to Decorah Saturday for Regional team competition.  Individual Regional play will take place Thursday, May 18.

The Lions faced Decorah in the first round of Regional team play.  There were several close matches, but ultimately the Lions fell, 5-2.

GHV girls golf team wins TIC meet

For the fifth year in a row, the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura girls golf team has won the Top of Iowa Conference meet.  The meet was held on Monday, May 8, in Britt.

The Cardinals outdistanced their nearest competition by 30 strokes with a 382.  Bishop Garrigan was runner-up with a 412.  Forest City was third with 434.  Nine teams competed in the TIC Meet.
