Clear Lake girls begin to roll

The Clear Lake Lions started their fourth week off with a fall, but stood strong for the rest of the week, collecting four wins.

Tough week for the Cardinals

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura softball team went 1-4 in action last week, moving its record to 3-14.

The Cardinals split a pair of games with North Iowa in a double header showdown on Monday, June 12.  Both teams were hot at the plate and seemed to score at will.  North Union took the first game, 16-10, while GHV took the second game, 21-13.

Clear Lake hosts triathlon

The first TRI Clear Lake sprint triathlon took place in Clear Lake on Saturday, June 10.  The windy weather didn’t deter the participants who completed a 750 meter swim, a 12.4 mile bike course and finished with a 3.1 mile run. Remember When 6-7-2017

(Above) Showboat, 1967 - The Showboat was launched in Clear Lake in 1962.  In 1967, the boat was loaded up and was shipped to Lake Erie on a flat car.  Clear Lake has had excursion boats since 1909 when the Princess was launched.  The Princess was shipped unassembled on a flat car to Clear Lake.

Band Fest parade, 1992Clear Lake Band Director Dan Djuren marched along side the stylish Clear Lake Marching Band in 1992.  The band took second place honors among the big schools participating in the 54th Annual North Iowa Band Festival, held Saturday, June 7.  Rebecca Harrenstein represented the Clear Lake band as its queen candidate.
