CL boys drop final two regular season soccer games

The Clear Lake boys soccer team dropped their final two games of the regular season, putting their record at 4-14 heading into post-season play.

On Monday, May 15, the Lions were host to Mason City on Senior Night and Parents Night.  The kickoff off came after a two hour delay, thanks to some untimely lightning and rain.

The Lions’ line up for the night featured seven seniors and two foreign exchange students.

GHV girls have strong showing at State

Veterans will construct memorial at V.F.W.

Another home damaged by fire

For the second time in as many weeks, lightning has been blamed for causing a house fire in Clear Lake.

The Clear Lake Fire Department was dispatched to 709 N. 7th St. for a reported structure fire at 7:16 p.m. Monday, May 15.

City leaders encouraged to act quickly on fireworks ordinance

Clear Lake city leaders are being encouraged to adopt a new ordinance which will restrict the use of fireworks within the city.

Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tim Coffey told the Council Monday night his board is concerned about the safety of visitors in light of the recent legalization of fireworks in Iowa.

Anxious sellers and buyers: Farmers Market opening early

The 2017 Clear Lake Farmers Market season will kick off Saturday, May 20.  According to Farmers Market board president, Andrea Evelsizer “The Farmers Market is starting a week earlier this season to accommodate our eager customers, as well as, our excited vendors with spring products. Being named this year, on Facebook, as one of the Top 10 Iowa Farmers Markets by “Best Things of Iowa”, was a big deal and we are excited to again offer the best local, homegrown and artisan quality products.”
