Evelyn M. Boller

Evelyn M. Boller, age 82, of rural Goodell, Iowa, died, Sunday, May 14, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 18, 2017, at the Goodell United Methodist Church, Goodell.   The Reverends Don and Cindy Morrison officiated.  Burial was in the Amsterdam Cemetery, east of Goodell.

Jones on to State

Gretchen Jones fought her way to earn a runner-up finish and her first trip to the State Tennis Meet in girls’ regional action in Waverly Thursday, May 18.

With a number two seed and first round bye, Jones first battled Waverly-Shell Rock’s Ashlyn Hughes, eventually defeating her 6-2, 6-2.

The Clear Lake girls golf team, led by defending State Champion Emily Snelling, will return to the Iowa Girls State Golf Meet Tuesday and Wednesday, May 30-31, at Lake Panorama, Panora.

Two more big wins for GHV girls soccer team

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura girls soccer team picked up two big wins in action last week.

GHV 4, Webster City 0

The Cardinals shut-out Webster City on Monday, May 15, 4-0.

“The difference in this game was energy,” said Coach Josh Banse.  “We had energy from the start and didn’t let up.  Webster City has improved throughout the year, so I was happy to win.”

Payton Echelberger had two goals for GHV.
