Girls tennis team fails to advance in Team Regionals; Individual Regionals next

The Clear Lake girls tennis team wrapped up its regular season and jumped into post-season play last week.  The Lions have concluded team competition for the season, however, Individual Regionals will be played Thursday, May 19, in Waverly.

The Clear Lake girls golf team won the Class 3A, Region 4A meet at Bear Creek Golf Course in Forest City Monday afternoon, May 16.  The Lions, as well as Garner-Hayfield-Ventura’ Kyleigh Slaichert and Bailee Frayne will now advance to the Region 4 final at Legends Trail Golf Course in Parkersburg Monday, May 23.

Four boys will represent GHV at State Track Meet

Garner-Hayfield-Ventura will be represented by four boys at the State Track Meet to be held this weekend in Des Moines.  Those those advancing from the 2A District Qualifying Meet held in Garner on Thursday, May 12, will be Chase Smith, Reece Smith, Logan Dalbeck and Sam Cataldo.

“The boys competed well and we had personal bests, both individually and as relays, and that’s what we want to happen at Districts,” said Coach Kelsey Steffens.  “I am looking forward to watching the four boys compete on the blue oval.”

Five events to compete in State Meet for CLHS boys

Clear Lake High School athletes will compete in five events at the State Track Meet in Des Moines this week.  The Lions earned an impressive fourth place finish at the Class 2A State Qualifying Meet held in Garner May 12.

Forest City won the District with 102 points, followed by South Central Cal with 99 and Central Springs with 77.  Clear Lake scored 70 points to finish fourth.
