An Angel on Earth has gone to be with her Grandpa’s Bill and Bill. Lauren Lee Maertens, 31, of Clear Lake, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2016, at her home at the Opportunity Village main campus.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, Iowa, with the Reverands Kathy Graves and Rich Murray officiating.  Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Nora Springs, Iowa.

Lauren Lee Maertens, 31, of Clear Lake, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2016 at her home at the Opportunity Village main campus.  A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 17 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mason City.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church.

Wilma Jean (Hodenfield) Trebil, 93, of Manly, died Monday, March 7, 2016, at the Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning, S.C.  A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 11 at the Bethel United Methodist Church, Manly.  Visitation will be held from 5 - 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Bride Colonial Chapel, Manly and also one hour prior to service time on Friday at the church.

Clear Lake girls earn post-season honors

Post-season honors are plentiful for members of the Clear Lake girls basketball team.

In addition to being a unanimous First Team All-North Central Conference pick, junior Emily Snelling was named to the Class 3A Northwest Regional team, All-District Team and was a Third Team All-State selection.
