Two vote centers in CL

Tuesday, Nov. 3, is the day for voters to head to the polls for the Regular Election. In Clear Lake, voters may cast their ballots at City Hall, 15 N. 6th St., or Clear Lake Church of Christ, 2010 14th Ave. N. between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.

The County has elected to use “vote centers” again this election so only two polling sites, City Hall at 15 N. 6th St., and Church of Christ, 2010 14th Ave. N., will be open in Clear Lake.  Voters from any ward may vote at either location.

Portion of N. Shore Dr. closed this week

Clear Lake city officials have announced that North Shore Drive will be closed between 2nd Avenue North and 3rd Avenue North to through traffic Wednesday through Friday this week, weather permitting, to repair a section of cracked pavement.

According to Public Works Director Joe Weigel, the intersections of 2nd Avenue North and 3rd Avenue North will remain open and all the driveways will remain accessible.  Wicks Construction, of Deborah, Iowa will be patching and replacing sections of the road.

Mildred Baker

Mildred Baker, 97, of Clear Lake, went to her Heavenly Father on Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, at Oakwood Care Center, in Clear Lake.

She was born Feb. 14, 1918, in Garner, Iowa.  She attended school in Hanlontown, Iowa, and graduated from McIntire High School in 1936.

Mildred Baker, 97, of Clear Lake, went to her Heavenly Father on Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, at Oakwood Care Center, in Clear Lake.

She was born Feb. 14, 1918, in Garner, Iowa.  She attended school in Hanlontown, Iowa, and graduated from McIntire High School in 1936.

Mark E. Lewerke

Mark E. Lewerke, 56, of Garner, Iowa, lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, in Mason City, Iowa, while holding his wife’s hand.

  Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29, at the Clear Lake Evangelical Free Church, 1310 Highway 18 E., with Pastors Eric Williams and Haddon Anderson officiating.
