April accident sidelined police lieutenant

The City of Clear Lake has filed a lawsuit against two brothers in connection with an April accident in which a police car driven by Lt. Paul Chizek was struck by a truck.  The city is seeking an $8,890.36 judgment against Steven Orta, 21, and Ryan Orta, 29, both of Mason City, for damage to the police car.

Lion boys are NCC cross country champs

For the first time since 1988 Clear Lake has brought home a North Conference cross country championship.

On the course that will host the State Championship Oct. 31, the Clear Lake boys cross country team ran their best meet of the year.  The success was due to a true team effort, as every runner gave it their all.

A big and physical Hampton-Dumont team out-manned Clear Lake, 45-6, Friday night, handing the Lions their first loss in the district and setting up a game with all sorts of post-season implications this week.
