Despite the weather, which was breezy and very cold, and the fact that the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura girls golf team has not been on a course yet this season, Monday night’s meet with Clarion-Goldfield could have been worse.  As it was, C-G topped GHV by only four strokes, 208-212, in the first meet of the season.

Unity Christian stops Clear Lake girls at State

The Clear Lake girls started strong, but Unity Christian (21-4) outscored the Lions 35-18 in the second half  to oust the Lions in the Class 3A quarterfinal at the State Basketball Tournament Tuesday afternoon.  The Lions fell, 60-35.

GHV girls advance with OT win over Osage

A never-give-up attitude helped the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura girls basketball team defeat Osage in overtime in the first round of Regionals played Saturday, Feb. 15, in Osage.

“What an amazing basketball game.  Just like every other game we have played against Osage the last two seasons, this game was a defensive battle that went right down to the wire,” said Coach Matt Erpelding.

Cards claim championship by a landslide at home meet

It was a night the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura boys track team will always remember.  The Cardinals won their home meet by a landslide.  GHV captured the title with 137 points.  West Fork was 49 points behind with 88 points.  Lake Mills was third in the 12-team meet with 82 points.
