CL softball team ends regular season with a win over Clarion-Goldfield

The Clear Lake girls ended the regular season on a high note Thursday, July 3. They topped Clarion-Goldfield, 10-9, to enter post-season play Tuesday night, July 8, with a 4-22 record. They finished with a North Central Conference record of 3-13.

CL girls soccer team ends regular season with a shut-out against IF-A

The Clear Lake girls soccer team finished the regular season with a shut-out win at Iowa Falls-Alden Thursday, May 29.
Iowa Falls played a heavy defensive game, which played right into the hands of the Lions. The Cadets kept a line of four defenders back and three mid-fielders back most of the game, hoping to keep the Lions away from the goal. 

Soccer team drops two

The Clear Lake girls soccer team gave fourth ranked (2A) Waverly-Shell Rock a test, but dropped a 3-0 decision to the G-Hawks last week.  That was followed by a 1-0 loss at Aplington-Parkersburg.

CL girls continue to improve

The Clear Lake girls picked up a win in the 4x200 and saw continued improvements in individual events competing at the Don Hoppel Co-ed Relay held at Garner Monday, May 5.  

The Lions’ 4x200 with Brittany Bieber, Aspen Curtis, Mckenna Backhaus and Megan Merfeld broke the tape in 1:57.37.  The same group was sixth in the 4x100 in 56.16.

Clear Lake boys win Lynx Relays; claim runner-up honors at own meet

The Clear Lake boys track team kicked it into high gear last week, finishing as runner-up in their own meet, then winning the Lynx Relays at Webster City. It was the second meet win of the season for the Lions.

Lions beat GHV in season soccer opener

Coach Matt Anderson said he wasn’t quite sure what to expect in his team’s first soccer match of the season Tuesday, April 8.  What he saw gave him reason to be optimistic about the Lions’ year.

Clear Lake broke open a close match with Garner-Hayfield/Ventura in the second half and posted a 12-2 win.
