Court will rule on Redstone

 

A trial date has been set in a case involving the developer of Redstone on North Shore Drive, Clear Lake, and its residents.  A non-jury trial will start at 9 a.m., Oct. 9 in Cerro Gordo County District in Mason City.

Tim Stenberg, developer of Redstone, owns one unit in the building and is fighting a request by residents of the building 

Donation to Outdoor Classroom

 

Clear Creek Elementary School Principal Mike Barkley accepted a $1,000 donation from the Clear Lake Earth Day Committee for use at the Outdoor Classroom located at the school property.  Barkley 

Ventura awards bid for renovation project at elementary school

The Ventura School Board voted Monday to proceed with plans for major renovation of its 50-plus year-old elementary school.

The Board accepted the low bid of $372,720 from King Construction, Clear Lake, for the work on the school interior.  Seven alternate bids were also approved, totaling $421,545 for the project.  

According to Superintendent Tyler Williams, three bids for the project ranged from $421,000 to $530,000.  The district’s one-cent sales tax will fund the renovation, he said.

High speed chase ends west of Ventura

 

 

A high speed chase ended on Highway 18 west of Ventura about 4:45 p.m. Monday.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a vehicle driven by Randal Roberts, 30, of Wisconsin, was stopped by authorities after it was suspected the vehicle had been stolen.  A trooper ran the license plates of the vehicle and discovered that it had been reported as stolen in Wisconsin.  After initially stopping, Roberts drove away 

Event brings thousands to enjoy Clear Lake in the winter

 

It takes a lot to keep snowmobile enthusiasts down.  

Despite a lack of snow and brutally cold temperatures, huge crowds of participants and spectators enjoyed the 4th Annual Iowa Lemans Snowmobile Championship Jack Helgren Memorial Race held over the weekend at Clear Lake State Park.

Boy pulled safely from lake’s icy water by friend

 

An 11-year-old Clear Lake boy was pulled to safety Friday after he fell into the icy lake water.

According to Police Chief Greg Peterson, the boy and a 10-year-old friend approached the open water near the aerator operating in the vicinity of the Sea Wall. Fortunately his friend, who is also from Clear Lake, pulled his buddy out of the icy water.

A Veteran’s Day Assembly was held at the Clear Lake High School on Friday, Nov. 11.  The V.F.W. Post 4868 (below) lowered the flag and held a gun salute at the flagpool outside 

Vehicle fire sends one to hospital

 

A Clear Lake man has been released from the hospital after being treated for injuries he received in a motorhome fire last week.
