Car, motorcycle crash kills woman

 A crash Saturday night killed one person and hospitalized another.

Clear Lake emergency personnel were among those responding to  a deadly crash involving a motorcycle Saturday night on Highway 122, just west of Decker Sports.

Veteran’s memorial proposal stalls

Evenly divided Task Force unable to make recommendation

Nearly one year and hours of discussion later, there is still no decision about where a veterans memorial should be placed in Clear Lake.

Monday night the Clear Lake City Council received a much-anticipated report from a task force charged with studying locations for a memorial and making a recommendation.

Offices closed Good Friday

Clear Lake city offices, along with the Clear Lake Mirror-Reporter office, will be closed Friday, April 3, in observance of Good Friday and 

the start of the Easter weekend.  Offices will re-open Monday, April 6.

School Board begins looking at possible cuts to meet budget

The Clear Lake School Board met in workshop session Monday night to begin finding ways to cut approximately $600,000 from its 2015-16 budget.

CL teachers ask for 7.11 percent pay increase

The Clear Lake Education Association (CLEA) made its initial contract proposal--   a proposed 7.11 percent total package increase in salary and benefits for the 2015-16 school year-- to the Clear Lake School Board Monday. The package includes the District’s notification of a 4.29 percent health insurance premium increase. 

The Board of Education made its first contract offer during its regularly scheduled Feb. 23 meeting.

Contracts are negotiated for 190 days of service.

Winds whipped up a blizzard Thursday afternoon throughout North Iowa, stranding motorists and creating dangerous situations throughout the region.

City offices, library announce schedule for holidays

City Hall and all other city departments will close at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, Dec. 24), in observance of the Christmas holiday.  All city offices will return to normal operating hours Friday, Dec. 26.

 

City Hall and other city departments will close at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, in observance of the New Year’s holiday.  All city offices will return to normal operating hours Friday, Jan. 2.

The Clear Lake Public Library will close at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24, and 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31.

Bicyclist, driver die in separate collisions

It was a deadly week on Clear Lake area roads.

Thursday morning, Nov. 20, a Clear Lake woman was killed when the bike she was riding collided with a flat bed truck north of Ventura.
