Committee re-writes criteria for new police chief selection

A newly appointed committee has outlined the job duties, education, experience and training necessary for the community’s chief of police.  

The Clear Lake City Council approved a resolution revising the job description at its Oct. 21 meeting.

CL business applies for property tax exemption to expand

 A Clear Lake business is hoping to expand its operations to a new facility in the Clear Lake Business Park.
Officials from TTI, Inc. say they have outgrown their building at 805 Buddy Holly Place and are asking the City for an industrial property tax exemption. A public hearing on the matter was held at the City Council’s regular meeting Monday night. 

Ten injured when boat crashes into dock early Sunday

 Ten people were injured, and four taken to the hospital, after a boat struck a public dock on Clear Lake’s south shore early Sunday morning, Aug. 3.

MC School Board keeps superintendent sharing agreement in place

On a 4-3 vote, the Mason City School Board will continue its superintendent sharing agreement with the Clear Lake School District next school year.  

The Board’s attorney had recommended the group readdress the issue after a 3-3 vote in December.  At that time it was believed failure 

Men charged with cheating to win ice fishing tournament

Two North Iowa men have been charged for alleged cheating at a fishing tournament on Clear Lake earlier this month.

Aaron Lauber, 23, of Clear Lake, and Jason Schuttler, 25, of Manly, turned in the winning entry of 50 fish weighing 15 pounds, 14 ounces at the Yellow Bass Bonanza held at Clear Lake on Sunday, Feb. 8.
