James D. Marsh

James Douglas Marsh, of Gilbertville, Iowa and formerly of Clear Lake, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2020, at the age of 73.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at 11 a.m., at Clear Lake Cemetery where military honors will be provided.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the Jim Marsh Memorial Fund in care of his family.

Jim was born to Albert and Betty (Hyde) Marsh on Feb. 14, 1947, in Mason City.

Ellsworth F. Clark

Ellsworth Frederick Clark, 88, leader of The Clark Band, farmer, teacher and a member of the National Old Time Fiddler’s Hall of Fame, succumbed to congestive heart failure on June 2, 2020. Clark, of Mason City, had been residing in long term health care from results of a stroke that occurred May 2018.

Thomas Lee Eckholt, 49, of Mason City, went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at his home.

Thomas was cremated on Monday, May 25, 2020, and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2020, (time TBA) at Touched by Grace Ministries, 604 23rd St SE, Mason City.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, June 19, at Salem Lutheran Cemetery, in Lake Mills.

  A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1-3 p.m., Friday, June 19, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Pat Hall, of Zion Lutheran Church officiating.

Spectator guidelines for baseball and softball games

The Clear Lake school system would like to share some of the guidelines for spectators planning on attending softball or baseball games at the Clear Lake Lions Field Complex this season.  Due to the COVID-19 virus, some adjustments have been made.

“We are asking everyone to cooperate with these so we can have a safe environment at our games,” said Dale Ludwig, Clear Lake Athletic Director.
