   Back to school is an exciting time for many students.  They are back to classes, reuniting with friends, and if you’re an athlete, heading back to practices and the excitement of competing.  Athletics, however, is not always all fun and games.  Every time an athlete takes the field or court, they put themselves at risk of an injury.

‘Up close and personal’

Clear Lake eighth graders had a chance to really get to know their lake by taking part in an annual trip to City Beach.  Local scientists from DNR, Lime Creek and the CLEAR Project came together to create a hands-on learning experience.  Students rotated through six stations to learn about fish identification with Scott Grummer (DNR), waterfowl and wildlife with Vince Evelsizer (DNR), Watersheds with Jim Sholly (CLEAR Project), plants and plankton using microscopes with Todd Vonehwegen (Lime Cre

Wellness Center listening post tonight

The first of three listening post sessions about a proposed health and wellness center to be constructed at Clear Lake High School will be held tonight (Wednesday, Sept. 11) at City Hall.  The time for the meeting has been pushed back to 7 p.m. from the originally announced 6:30.

City readies for bond issuances; pursues Moody’s rating

The Clear Lake City Council approved a bond services underwriter agreement with a West Des Moines company at its Tuesday, Sept. 3, meeting.  The action was taken in anticipation of new bond issuances the City may make.  Bonds may be issued for projects in the Courtway Park development east of Interstate 35, as well as a health and wellness center currently being discussed.
