Rainy weather did not prevent a large crowd from making a local Memorial Day observance part of their holiday weekend plans.  Saratoga V.F.W. Post 4868 was filled to capacity Monday morning to hear a message provided by Colonel Sarah J. Christ, a Clear Lake native.

Clear Lake Sanitary District announces sewer rate hike

The Clear Lake Sanitary District Board of Trustees approved the first reading of an amendment to the Sewer Ordinance at its Tuesday, May 21, board meeting.  The proposal will increase sewer rates 4 percent.

The Board is expected to vote to approve the second reading and waive the third reading at its June 18 meeting.

The new rates will take effect July 1 after publication.

Flags complete North Shore streetscape

The final touches have been made to one of Clear Lake’s major street reconstruction projects.

Just in time for the holiday weekend, city crews installed banners on the decorative light poles along North Shore Drive between City Park and the Surf Ballroom & Museum.

George C. Lunn

George C. Lunn, 88, of Clear Lake passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019, at MercyOne, North Iowa Medical Center.

  A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 31, 2019, at Zion Lutheran Church, 112 N. 4th St, Clear Lake, with Dr. Rev. Pat Hall officiating. Burial will be held in Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, May 30, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St, Clear Lake. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
