CL girls move record to 4-1

The Clear Lake girls improved their record to 4-1 last week with wins over West Fork and Hampton-Dumont.

“This week really tested our girls mentally and physically and I was pleased with how we performed all week,” said Coach Bart Smith.  “We still need to work on things, but it’s a start to the season.”

CLHS Dance Team brings home Championship honors

The Clear Lake High School Dance Team participated in the State Dance Team Competition held at Wells Fargo Arena, in Des Moines, on Thursday, Dec. 1.  The team received State Championship honors in both Pom and Hip Hop.  The group was also recognized for Outstanding Academic Achievement.

Cards top FC; lose one by a buzzer shot

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura boys basketball team opened the 2016-17 season.  The Cards played three Top of Iowa Conference opponents, winning two and dropping a close one.

GHV 69, North Iowa 56

The Cardinals were able to overcome some early nerves on their way to a 69-56 victory over North Iowa on Tuesday, Nov. 29.

CL grapplers open 2016-17 season

The Clear Lake wrestling team opened the 2016 season with a pair of duals against Top of Iowa Conference teams.  The Lions topped host Belmond-Klemme, 66-15, but fell to Lake Mills, 45-30.

The Lions recorded five falls in the win over Belmond-Klemme.  Eric Faught (113), Braxton Doebel (132), Ryan Leisure (145), Chance Poley (170) and Kade Hambly (182) pinned their opponents.

The Clear Lake wrestling team opened the 2016 season with a pair of duals against Top of Iowa Conference teams.  The Lions topped host Belmond-Klemme, 66-15, but fell to Lake Mills, 45-30.

The 2016-17 season is underway for the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura girls basketball team as they split a pair of Top of Iowa Conference games.

Free throws were the difference for the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura girls when they hosted North Iowa on Tuesday, Nov. 29.
