Sumae Herker, 68, of Clear Lake, died Monday, Aug. 22, 2016 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.

Private graveside services were held in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake, with Chaplin Ed Bard of Hospice of North Iowa officiating.

Sumae was born Sept. 6, 1947, in Kagoshima, Japan, the daughter of Jucuch and Kuni Takeyama.

Robert (Bob) A. Hewitt, 70, of Maple Grove, Minn. died peacefully on Aug. 23, 2016, surrounded by family.

A memorial service was held Sunday, Aug. 28, 2016, at Lord of Life Church, 7401 County Road 101, Maple Grove.

Bob graduated from Clear Lake Iowa High School in 1964 and from Drake University in 1968. He married Bonnie Jean Holt in 1969 and soon after left to serve for the U.S. Army in Vietnam.  He was employed 23 years by Allina Hospital and Clinics.

He will be remembered for his sense of humor and contagious smile.

Gary Grant Anderson, 72, of Fertile, Iowa, died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, with Pastor Dennis Ganz officiating and military honors provided by Clear Lake VFW Post 4868.  Per Gary’s wishes, his body will be cremated following the service.
