Gail Jean (Riggs) Meyer, 64, 4053 240th St., Clear Lake, passed away July 7, 2016, at Hospice of North Iowa.

In lieu of funeral services, a free will concert, “Celebration in Sound!” will be held on Sunday, Aug. 14, at 3 p.m., at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church, 508 2nd Ave. N., in Clear Lake.  The concert is being organized by Mary Jane Crail.

Coffee, cookies and ice cream will be served following the concert.

(Above) Bayside roller coaster - After the first Bayside roller coaster was destroyed by a tornado in 1931, a second roller coaster was built in 1942 by the Philadelphia Toboggan Co. for John J. Shea of the Bayside Amusement Park. The second roller coaster, as seen here adjacent to the Ritz Dinner Club parking lot, was razed in 1958 to make room for a housing development.
