Lion boys are NCC cross country champs

For the first time since 1988 Clear Lake has brought home a North Conference cross country championship.

On the course that will host the State Championship Oct. 31, the Clear Lake boys cross country team ran their best meet of the year.  The success was due to a true team effort, as every runner gave it their all.

A big and physical Hampton-Dumont team out-manned Clear Lake, 45-6, Friday night, handing the Lions their first loss in the district and setting up a game with all sorts of post-season implications this week.

The Clear Lake girls volleyball team battled conference and non-conference foes last week.  The girls are tuning their skills heading into the final stretch of the season.  The Lions played their final match of the regular season Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Hampton.  Class 3A, Region 4 post-season play begins Monday, Oct. 26, at Algona.

Lee Monson, 67, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Friday, October 16, 2015, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services were held Monday, Oct. 19, 2015, at Stonebridge Church, Cedar Rapids, conducted by the Rev. Randy Scheil and the Rev. Robin Tyner. Burial was in Spring Grove Cemetery, Covington, Iowa.
