Portion of N. Shore Dr. closed this week

Clear Lake city officials have announced that North Shore Drive will be closed between 2nd Avenue North and 3rd Avenue North to through traffic Wednesday through Friday this week, weather permitting, to repair a section of cracked pavement.

According to Public Works Director Joe Weigel, the intersections of 2nd Avenue North and 3rd Avenue North will remain open and all the driveways will remain accessible.  Wicks Construction, of Deborah, Iowa will be patching and replacing sections of the road.

Mildred Baker, 97, of Clear Lake, went to her Heavenly Father on Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, at Oakwood Care Center, in Clear Lake.

She was born Feb. 14, 1918, in Garner, Iowa.  She attended school in Hanlontown, Iowa, and graduated from McIntire High School in 1936.

Mark E. Lewerke, 56, of Garner, Iowa, lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, in Mason City, Iowa, while holding his wife’s hand.

  Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29, at the Clear Lake Evangelical Free Church, 1310 Highway 18 E., with Pastors Eric Williams and Haddon Anderson officiating.

     Douglas Floyd Lee, age 96, most recently of Belmond, Iowa, a longtime resident in Clear Lake, died, Friday, Oct. 23, 2015, of complications from a major stroke at the Iowa Specialty Hospital, Belmond, surrounded by his loving family.

Richard A. Mays

Richard Allen (Lew) Mays died Oct. 22, 2015, at The Lutheran Homes, in Muscatine, Iowa.  He was 86 years old.   A private family celebration of life took place at Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Homes for funeral and cremation services on Oct. 24, 2015.  Burial will take place at a later date at Lone Tree Cemetery, in Sioux Rapids, Iowa.

Robert Luedeman

Robert C. “Bob” Luedeman, 64, of Clear Lake, died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.

A celebration of Robert’s life was held on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015, at the Kinney Lindstrom Center at Opportunity Village, Clear Lake, with Pastor Rich Murray officiating. Graveside services were held at the Clear Lake Cemetery on Friday.  Family suggest memorials to Opportunity Village of Clear Lake.

Bob was born in Ft. Knox, Ky. on Feb. 13, 1951.
