Public improvements requested at Lincoln school site

   Developers of the former Lincoln School property are asking the city to make roughly $121,500 in public improvements to the site to facilitate its development.
    Mike Danburg, of Yaggy Colby Associates, presented information to City Council members meeting in workshop session Monday night.

With the late onset of winter weather, officials with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources announced Tuesday they will not be operating the aeration system for the remainder of the winter on Clear Lake. 

CLEAR Project awarded $384,320 grant

    The Clear Lake Enhancement and Restoration Project has been awarded a $384,320 grant from the Environmental Protection Commission. 
    The grant was one of six contracts with the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship Division of Soil Conservation announced Tuesday, Dec. 20, by the EPA.

Conserving energy pays big dividends for CL School District

It’s the time of the year when we all start thinking about conserving energy-- and in turn save some money.  We shut the windows up tight, and often wrap a blanket around our shoulders rather than turn up the thermostat.
    Little things like that can add up.  And in the case of the Clear Lake School District.  Little things can really add up.

Band performance is a ‘Thriller’ for all

    The Clear Lake High School Marching Band earned its highest placement ever at the recent Algona Band Day field competition.  The group earned third place among 14 band competing in the Saturday, Oct. 1 event.

Arraignment set for Lake man facing sex abuse charges

A Clear Lake man arrested and charged with Lascivious Acts with a Child, a Class D felony and Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree, a Class C felony, will be arraigned Aug. 20.

On Aug. 5,  Clear Lake police arrested 25-year-old Mason City resident David Powell II in a sting operation.  Powell showed up at a local motel thinking he was going to be meeting a 13-year-old Clear Lake girl for sex; instead he 

was met by police when he entered the motel room. 

Alliant urges conservation with continued hot weather

    Interstate Power and Light Co. (IPL), an Alliant Energy company, announced again Tuesday it would cycle air conditioners for all participating Iowa customers. Weather conditions were such that from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. customers enrolled in the Appliance Cycling program had their air conditioner cycled in 15-minute intervals to reduce overall energy usage.

Ventura street project will cause traffic issues

    Main Street pavement removals and grading work will begin the week of June 4 in Ventura from Lake Street south to its corporate limits.  Planners warn the project will result in traffic congestion.
     Traffic on Main Street will be maintained, however, it will be one-way alternating traffic controlled by traffic signals. Drivers are asked to find alternate routes, if possible, as the area will be congested.
