GHV blows past Bison

It was an easy win for the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura boys basketball team, when they traveled to North Iowa for their final game before the holiday break on Monday, Dec. 22.  The Cardinals moved their record to 5-2, 6-2, with the victory over the winless North Iowa team.

CL girls smother competition

The Clear Lake girls dominated on offense and were stingy on defense in a pair of North Central Conference games played last week.  The Lions pounded Iowa Falls-Alden, 68-33, and raced past Clarion-Goldfield, 54-17 to improve to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in the NCC.

Lions move record to 5-2

 

The Clear Lake boys played a flurry of games in their final week before the holiday break.  The Lions picked up three wins in four outings, improving to 5-2.  The team is now off until Jan. 9, when they travel to Humboldt.  The Lions and Wildcats are both 4-0 in the North Central Conference.s

The Lions pushed their win streak to four Tuesday night with a 73-48 victory over Iowa Falls-Alden.

It was a good week for the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura boys, as they picked up two big wins moving their record to 4-2 in the North Iowa Conference and 5-2 overall.

The GHV boys picked up a 25-point victory over Central Springs on the road Friday, Dec. 19.  

Clear Lake wrestlers go 2-0 in NCC duals

The Clear Lake wrestling team picked up two big wins Thursday night, Dec. 18, against Hampton and Algona.  The victories put the Lions in second place in North Central Conference at 3-1, one meet behind second rated Clarion. 

“I thought we wrestled pretty well.   It is nice to see TJ Hauser healthy again and back in our line up. He will make us tough,” said Clear Lake Coach Gary Weber.  “Christiano Gonzalez also made his debut at 132-pounds, which added some punch to the line up.”

GHV girls drop first game of the season

After adding another win to their impressive record, the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura girls hit a buzz saw when they encountered Bishop Garrigan and dropped their first game of the season.  The loss moved the Cardinal’s record to 6-1, 7-1.

Busy week on the mat for GHV grapplers

The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura wrestling team had a busy week on the mat, competing in a triangular on Tuesday night and a quadrangular on Thursday night.

Richard Goscinski

Richard William Goscinski, 39, of Clear Lake, died suddenly from a truck accident on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014.

Memorial services were held on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, at Agape Christian Family Church, Clear Lake, with Pastor David and Kris Toyne officiating.  Family suggests memorials to Richard William Goscinski memorial fund.  

As in life, Richard gave, and after his death he participated in Iowa Donor to help others.

Lora L. Proctor

Lora LaGrace Proctor, 87, Clear Lake, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, at the Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake.

     A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 26, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, with Mark Doebel officiating.  Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. prior to the funeral.  Interment will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery.  Memorials may be given to the Oakwood Care Center, 400 Hwy 18 W., Clear Lake, in her name.

Cecil Teeter

Services for Cecil Glenn Teeter, 96, Lawrence, Kan., will be held on a later date in La Porte City, Iowa, with 

inurnment in West View Cemetery. Mr. Teeter died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community, Lawrence.
