Thanks to funding from the federal CARES Act, the Mason City Municipal Airport will receive a much-needed upgrade to its sanitary sewer system.  The airport will decommission its wastewater lagoon system and replace it with a municipal connection to Clear Lake’s wastewater collection system.

While some areas of the country may be struggling with food insecurity, the generosity of the Clear Lake community is keeping the Clear Lake/Ventura Food Pantry strong.

“Our shelves are not bare.  This community has been very generous and supports our efforts and we have continued to grow over our six years,” said Donna Etchen, who serves on the board of directors for the group.

CL girls roll over Algona, 60-37

The Clear Lake girls flexed their defensive muscle in a commanding 60-37 victory over Algona Friday, Dec. 3.

“We saw some good things from our girls tonight,” said Head Coach Bart Smith.  The team was coming off a season-opening loss to second ranked (3A) Ballard.  The Lions, ranked fifth in the 3A pre-season poll, dropped to eighth this week.  “Our defense was pretty good for most of the game, we got three single digit quarters.”

Winners named in Lighted Parade

The Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce has announced the winners in the Christmas By The Lake Lighted Parade.

Dr. Jay’s Ironworks (Jerry Nelson) was awarded first place and $300 in Chamber Bucks.  Second place and $175 in Chamber Bucks went to CL Tel and third place and $75 in Chamber Bucks was MBT.

Approximately 30 floats participated in the Lighted Parade.
