Remember When 11-17-2021

Indian play, 1971 - Kindergarten youngsters at Lincoln School were learning all about the life of Indians in 1971.  The youngsters made masks, which are hanging on the wall.  Under the supervision of Miss Schroder, Ricky Amundson and Beth Haspany learned an Indian dance.  They’re dressed in authentic Indian costumes.  The boy drumming up a storm is Jeff Klaudt. 

LeRoy V. Williamson

LeRoy Vernon Williamson, 82, of Clear Lake, died Monday, Nov. 8, 2021, at his home surrounded by family.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, Nov. 11, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Will Hunsaker officiating. Burial was at Clear Lake Cemetery.

LeRoy was born June 9, 1939, the son of Ray L. and Virginia J. (Gleason) Williamson, in Iowa City. He married Bonnie Jean Ostendorf on April 12, 1979, at the Little Brown Church, in Nashua. She preceded him in death on May 7, 2018.

Terrance A. Hoil

Terrance Allen “Terry” Hoil, 74, of Clear Lake, passed away on Monday, Nov. 8, 2021, at Good Shepherd Health Care Center, Mason City.

Funeral Mass was held on Friday Nov. 12, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, with Father Josh Link as Celebrant. Interment took place in Clear Lake Cemetery where Military Honors were done by VFW Post 4868 .

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Terrance A. Hoil

Terrance Allen “Terry” Hoil, 74, of Clear Lake, passed away on Monday, Nov. 8, 2021, at Good Shepherd Health Care Center, Mason City.

Funeral Mass was held on Friday Nov. 12, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, with Father Josh Link as Celebrant. Interment took place in Clear Lake Cemetery where Military Honors were done by VFW Post 4868 .

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Patrick R. McChesney, 87, of Clear Lake, passed away Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City.

A Celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20, at Ward Van-Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 1st Avenue North, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Mark Doebel officiating.  Inurnment will be held in the Clear Lake Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 19, at Ward Van-Slyke Colonial Chapel.

The Clear Lake High School all-state athlete who went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Movement and Exercise Science with a minor in Sport Administration and Coaching while playing golf for the University of Northern Iowa Panthers has made the decision to become a professional golfer.

School Board reorganizes, readies for school year

The Clear Lake School Board held an organizational meeting Tuesday, Nov. 9.  The agenda included administering the oath of office to newly elected members and selecting board members to serve on various committees.
