Marjorie U. Jensen

Marjorie Umhau Jensen was embraced by God’s loving arms on All Saints Day, Nov. 1, 2021, and He said unto her, “Well done, good and faithful servant!” (Matthew 25:23).

Marj’s story began on July 4, 1929. She was born in Washington, DC, the daughter of John Bernard, Sr. and Frieda Elizabeth Umhau, sister of John “Jay” Bernard, Jr. Marj graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Lucy Webb Hayes school of nursing in 1950 and began her life of caring for others.

Terrance A. “Terry” Hoil

Terrance Allen “Terry” Hoil, 74, of Clear Lake, passed away on Monday, Nov. 8, 2021 at Good Shepherd Health Care Center, Mason City. 

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday Nov. 12, 2021, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1001 9th Ave. S., Clear Lake, with Father Josh Link as Celebrant. Interment will take place in Clear Lake Cemetery where Military Honors will be done by VFW Post 4868 .

(Above) Farm fun in 1996 - Farm fun of all kinds was had in 1996 at a Farm Breakfast held by Sunset School first graders.  The students culminated a unit on farm life with the breakfast and program for parents and guests.  Songs, dance, trivia contest and games were all part of the fun.

Remember When 11-10-2021

Clear Lake School Board incumbent Chyrl Bergvig was returned to the board by voters, but challenger Greg Southgate narrowly claimed the second open seat on the board with a 13 vote victory over incumbent Tony Brownlee.

Clear Lake City Council members offered up their own version of a “Throwback Thursday” last week when the group, along with City Administrator Scott Flory, Police Chief Pete Roth and Finance Director Creighton Schmidt, sat down to discuss community issues.

Longtime Council member Mike Callanan said workshops were a common occurrence in his early days on the Council.
