Krefft competes in Iowa Shrine Bowl

The Iowa Shrine Bowl was played July 24th at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls. The all-star game featuring Iowa’s best senior high school football players was back after missing last year due to the pandemic.

The North squad, which included Clear Lake High School’s Carson Krefft, picked up the victory, 52-24. 

CLHS Dance Team earns awards at MA Dance Camp in Des Moines

The Clear Lake High School Dance Team attended MA Dance Camp in Des Moines, Iowa, July 16-17.  The team participated in various classes focused on technique, and learning various styled routines.

Throughout the weekend dancers earned various individual honors:

•Rising Star Awards: Mikara DeVine, Lillianna Rodriquez, Ariana Tolentino, Aubrey Johnstone, Kaylee Schaefer, Kara Ourverson, Mariposa Coleman, Kylie Harrison, Avah Hogg, and Grace Golman.

Those words are excerpted from the 1870’s logbook of Norwegian immigrant, Laurence Larson upon his arrival in Winnebago County, Iowa.

Evening Lions getting ready for hamburger, sweet corn feed Aug. 8

After Covid-19 forced cancellation of last year’s event, the annual Clear Lake Evening Lions Club Hamburger and Sweetcorn Feast is returning.  It’s scheduled for 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, in Clear Lake City Park. Last year’s cancellation  decision came after 32 consecutive years of conducting this popular community event.
