Wayne Eugene Vandervort, 96, of Clear Lake, died Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at Rockwell Community Nursing Home, in Rockwell.

Funeral services were held on Monday, July 26, 2021, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 1st Ave. N., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Al Berge officiating. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery, in Dows, Iowa.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.

Two School Board seats to be decided in Nov. 2 election

The Iowa Association of School Boards and Clear Lake Community School District urge Iowans passionate about education to consider running in the Nov. 2, 2021 school board election.

Two seats on the Clear Lake School Board will be decided in the election.  The positions are currently held by Chyrl Bergvig and Tony Brownlee.

Public, social media lead to vandalism arrest

The Clear Lake Police Department has made an arrest in conjunction with damage caused to the “Main Street U.S.A.” sign at 8th and Main, Clear Lake.

On July 21, 2021, 21-year-old Matthew Arthur, of Nora Springs, was charged with Criminal Mischief in the Fifth Degree for damage caused to the sign.

The damage occurred during the early morning hours of July 3, 2021.

CG Public Health has announced it will hold a vaccine clinic offering COVID-19 and back-to-school vaccines in at Clear Creek Elementary in Clear Lake Wednesday, Aug. 11, 4:30-6:30 p.m.
