The new community wellness center is taking shape in anticipation of a December 2021 opening.

Monday night the Clear Lake City Council received a building update and watched a computer generated “fly-through” showing how a variety of cardio and weight equipment will be situated within the facility.  The Council also approved the purchase of indoor playground equipment.

Gerald Allen Madsen, 74, of Clear Lake, died Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at Rockwell Community Nursing Home in Rockwell.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 1st Ave. N., Clear Lake. Inurnment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City.

Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at the funeral home in Clear Lake.

Taylor enters retirement after 28 years as Ventura city clerk

Else Taylor, who is only the third city clerk in Ventura’s history, is now enjoying life as a retired Ventura resident.  Taylor officially stepped down from her position Tuesday, July 20, after 28 years of service to the community.

It’s been a career filled with change, challenge, progress and certainly a few laughs.
