Boys kick off 2021 track season

The Clear Lake boys track team kicked off the 2021 season by sending three events to the UNI Meet on Tuesday, March 9, and the team to Humboldt for the A.D. Dickinson Relays on Friday, March 12.

(Above) St. Patrick’s Day, 1971 - These “little people” - Jackie O’Bell and Todd O’Grimm wished everyone a Happy St. Patrick’s Day in 1971, even if you weren’t Irish.  Jackie is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bell and Todd, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Grimm.  Both were first graders at Lincoln School.

It was one year ago this week that the Mirror-Reporter and news outlets throughout the country broadly introduced COVID-19 to the public.  I very clearly remember that in the midst of a busy Monday we were getting word that a global pandemic had been declared.

Sustained 40 mph winds Wednesday night caused the east and south shorelines of Clear Lake to be filled with ice Thursday morning.  Despite the windy, warm weather last week “ice-out” could not be declared on the lake.  Water Department Superintendent Adam Theiss will make that announcement when it is possible to land a boat on any of the lake’s shorelines.  A strong early spring storm system moved across Iowa Monday, leaving about five-inches of snow on

The group which established and has hosted one of Clear Lake’s largest summer events has decided to put the brakes on.  Permanently.

Bicycle, Blues and BBQ Festival sponsors, community and event partners were notified by email Sunday that the July weekend event will no longer be held.
