David Duane Hopper, 70, of Clear Lake, passed away Monday, Jan. 25, 2021, at MercyOne North Iowa Hospice, from complications of a nearly 20 year battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was 70 years old and had lived life to the fullest. 

David A. Backus, 74, of Ventura, passed away Friday, Jan. 22, 2021, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center, in Mason City.

  A memorial visitation will be held from 3-6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021, at Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. 4th St., Garner.

  Due to COVID-19, a celebration service will be held at a later date at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church.

  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred in memory of Dave to Central Gardens of North Iowa, Mayo Clinic or Young America’s Foundation.

Robert (Bob) Dean Johannessen, age 85, of Park Rapids, Minn., passed away at his home in Hubbard, Minn. on Tuesday night, Dec.29, 2020.

Visitation was held on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021, at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home, Park Rapids.  A service is being tentatively planned for June 26, 2021.

Bob was born on May 13, 1935, in Clear Lake, to Johannes and Mandella (Amundson) Johannessen. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Paulson and had four children.
