DeVries signs with Southern Illinois

Clear Lake’s Jaylen DeVries made it official last week, as he signed a national letter of intent to play football at Southern Illinois University in the fall.  DeVries holds the CLHS school record in passing yards (6,319) and passing touchdowns (68).  As a senior, he passed for 2,358-yards and 29 touchdowns, with a 58 percent completion percentage, plus 519 rushing yards and eight TDs.  DeVries was named Class 2A First-Team All-State by the Iowa Print S

Lions pick up impressive win over Webster City

The Lions took on one of the favorites in the North Central Conference Tuesday night and came away with an impressive 69-41 victory.

“Webster City is another tough conference opponent with three returning starting guards,” noted Clear Lake Head Coach Jeremey Ainley.

CL competes in a dual and a triangular

The Clear Lake wrestling team closed out 2019 with a flurry.  Lion grapplers competed in a dual meet at Spencer and a triangular with North Central Conference rivals Algona and Webster City.  Then they headed to the highly touted Battle of Waterloo.  A report from the 32-team Battle of Waterloo will appear in next week’s Mirror-Reporter.  Full results were not available at press time.

(Above) Snowmobile rally, 1969 - Clear Lake residents were startled in 1969 as snowmobiles roared down Main Ave.  The excitement was just a preview of action seen at the Snowmobile Rally held in Clear Lake.  41 cities were represented at the Rally from Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Illinois and Colorado.
