Carina Mae Ellickson, 32, of Chicago, Ill., formerly of Clear Lake, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019, in Chicago.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

(Above) Holiday Lights, 1994A large number of people turned out for the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in 1994 in City Park.  Despite snow showers, school children provided carols for the candlelight ceremony which led up the official lighting of the large evergreen in the center of the park by Mayor Lois Kotz.

“Newsies” to give performance

The Clear Lake Mirror Reporter and Powerhouse Theatre will be teaming up for Christmas By The Lake! Powerhouse Theatre’s cast of “Newsies” will perform a number from the show along with favorite Christmas carols at 10:30 a.m. at 500 Main Avenue, Saturday, Dec. 7. Giving Tree off to a good start

The Giving Tree is now on display at the Clear Lake Mirror-Reporter office at 12 N. 4th St.  This year the tree features 216 ornaments representing gift and food requests from local families.   As of Tuesday, 85 ornaments remain available.
