Giving Tree off to a good start

The Giving Tree is now on display at the Clear Lake Mirror-Reporter office at 12 N. 4th St.  This year the tree features 216 ornaments representing gift and food requests from local families.   As of Tuesday, 85 ornaments remain available.

The Clear Lake Mirror-Reporter and Lake Theatre invite children ages three to 10-years-old to enter a Christmas Coloring Contest!

There will be two age categories, three to six-years-old and seven to 10. The Lake Theatre will award a free movie pass and concession treat to the winner of each age group.

City invests in new machine to take on winter ice

The City of Clear Lake is upping its snow removal game.

The City Council recently approved the purchase of a roadway ice breaker, described as two-ton rollers bristling with carbide-tipped spikes.  The equipment will be mounted on  the front of an end-loader, where they will puncture sheets of ice and break them up to be cleared away.

Carol Marie Welty, 75, of Clear Lake, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center, in Mason City.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, with Pastor Linda Johnson-Prestholt officiating. Inurnment will be at Upsala Lutheran Church Cemetery, in Richwood, Minn., at a later date.

Visitation will take place for two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

Joe R. Lambert

Joe R. Lambert, 88, of Clear Lake, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2019, surrounded by his loving family at MercyOne North Iowa Hospice, in Mason City.

A celebration of Joe’s life will be held from 1-4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 1, at The Hub, located in the Dock, 500 Main Ave, Clear Lake. Basketball games will be played in the adjoining gym, so please come casually dressed. Innichement will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, at a later date.

Memorials may be directed to MercyOne Hospice of North Iowa Inpatient Unit.
