Clear Lake saw its chance for a State title and undefeated season slip away in the waning moments of the Class 3A semi-finals played Thursday at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

Top-seeded Norwalk (23-4) trailed for most of the second half, but took the lead back for good with 1:19 remaining on a Tyler Endres layup.  The Lions couldn’t recover.

Norwalk exploded for 21 fourth quarter points to secure a 61-54 win.

Enke named to All-Tournament Team

2019 Class 3A All-Tournament Team included (L-R): Cole Henry, Oskaloosa; Xavier Foster, Oskaloosa; Bowen Born, Norwalk (captain); Drew Enke, Clear Lake; and Easton Darling, Winterset.  Bowen Born, a junior guard from Norwalk, was named All-Tournament Team captain.  Born topped the tournament field in points scored and points averaged with 98, an average of 32.7 per game.

Clear Lake completed its historic season with a  final four finish at the Class 3A State Basketball Tournament in Des Moines.  The Lions wrapped up a 24-2 campaign with a 67-49 loss to Winterset in the 3A consolation game Friday morning.

Winterset hustled and harangued its way past the Lions to earn its second third-place finish in school history.

Clear Lake completed its historic season with a  final four finish at the Class 3A State Basketball Tournament in Des Moines.  The Lions wrapped up a 24-2 campaign with a 67-49 loss to Winterset in the 3A consolation game Friday morning.

Winterset hustled and harangued its way past the Lions to earn its second third-place finish in school history.

Lena Marie Peyton, 95, of Clear Lake, died Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at Oakwood Care Center, in Clear Lake.

A Celebration of Life was held on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Art Zewert, Chaplain of MercyOne North Iowa Hospice, officiating.  Inurnment was at Clear Lake Cemetery.

Family suggests memorial contributions to the Lena Peyton Memorial Fund.

Charles W Rayburn, 95, of Clear Lake, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019, at Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 15, at Clear Lake United Methodist Church, 508 2nd Avenue North, Clear Lake, with the Rev. David Peterson officiating.  Burial will be held at a later date.  Military honors will be conducted by the Clear Lake VFW.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 North 4th Street, Clear Lake.
