GHV girls land three on Top of Iowa West All-Conference teams

Three Garner-Hayfield-Ventura girls basketball players were named to the 2018-19 Top of Iowa West Division All-Conference Teams.

Jayden Frank, a sophomore, was named to the First Team.  Chloe Frank, a freshman earned Second Team honors, while Jade Hanson, a senior was recognized for Honorable Mention.

Four CL girls earn All-North Central Conference honors

Four members of the Clear Lake girls basketball team have received All-North Central Conference honors.  The Lions finished in a tie with Iowa Falls-Alden for runner-up in the league standings with a record of 11-2.  However, the Lions topped the Pride Division of the NCC with a 5-0 mark.  Their only two losses in the NCC came at the hands of Algona, which claimed the title with a 13-1 record.

Kenneth M. DeWitt

Kenneth Merlyn DeWitt, 95, of Hanlontown, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient, in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2019, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, with Pastor Linda Johnson-Prestholt officiating.  Burial will be at Mount Vernon Township Cemetery, in rural Burchinal.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home in Clear Lake.

A funeral service was held Friday, Feb. 22, at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with Chaplain Judy Vesellis officiating.  Burial was held in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa Inpatient Unit, Mason City.
