Edna Mae Howick, 90, of Ferndale, Wash. died Jan. 17, 2018.  Edna had lived in Garner, Iowa, for the past 11 years and moved to Washington six months ago.

  A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 21, 2018, at the Cataldo Funeral Home, in Garner, with the Rev. Paul Evans, of the United Methodist Church officiating. Inurnment will be at Concord Township Cemetery, in Garner, followed by a time of food and fellowship at the United Methodist Church.

Dorothy (Phillips) Garlock, 98, a resident of Clear Lake for more than 60 years, the author of 62 novels, and one of the greatest grandmothers who ever lived, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 6, 2018, at Oakwood Care Center, in Clear Lake.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, with Pastor Ed Bard officiating.  Inurnment will be at Clear Lake Cemetery at a later date.

Mildred I. Kloetzer, 86, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, went home to her Lord and Savior on March 29, 2018 surrounded by her family at the Hansen Family Hospital.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at the First Christian Church, in Iowa Falls.  Burial was at the Maynes Grove Cemetery.

Mildred Irene (Meyer) Kloetzer was born July 11, 1931 at Chapin, Iowa, to Simon and Alice (Wertjes) Meyer.

One of Clear Lake’s best kept secrets—popular western romance novel author Dorothy Garlock, passed away Friday, April 6, 2018 at Oakwood Care Center.  Garlock was not a native of Clear Lake, but loved the community deeply and even occasionally wove pieces of local lore into her stories.
