Lions defeat Bulldogs

The Clear Lake girls tennis team played for the first time outdoors since March 23, but the lack of court time didn’t seem to matter.  The Lions defeated Hampton-Dumont 9-0 on Thursday, April 12.

Barragy earns medalist honors at Fort Dodge

Senior Jordyn Barragy earned medalist honors at Clear Lake’s first golf meet of the season Tuesday, April 10, at Fort Dodge.  Barragy carded a 48 to lead the Lions.  Riley Mayer, from St. Edmond’s also fired a 48 to share honors with Barragy.

Host St. Ed’s won the triangular with a team score of 212.  The Lions finished second with 224 and Hampton-Dumont shot 239.

GHV opens season with a 8-2 win

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura boys soccer team had both the offense and defense clicking in its season opener on Thursday, April 12.  The Cardinals combined all their talents and soundly defeated Charles City, 8-2.

The Clear Lake and Garner-Hayfield-Ventura girls track teams finally got off and running at a timing meet held on Thursday, April 12, in Garner.  The meet was not scored and no field events were held, but the meet gave the runners an opportunity to get on a track and get some times posted.

The season finally got underway on Tuesday, April 10, for the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura boys track team.  The team competed in the 2018 Gerry Lenguadoro Cadet Relays in Iowa Falls.

Reece Smith led the way for the Cardinals with a first place finish in the 1600 meter run.  Smith finished with a time of 4:34.05, :18 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.

Barragy plays in All-Star game

Clear Lake senior Jordyn Barragy was selected to play in the Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association Larry Niemeyer Senior All-Star Basketball Game Saturday, April 7, at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids.  Barragy was a member of the Class 3A White Team coached by Todd Mooney, of Humboldt.  Barragy  scored seven points in a clash of Class 3A White vs.
