Faber named to IGCA All-State team

Clear Lake’s Sara Faber has been selected as a member of the Iowa Girls Coaches Association (IGCA) 2018 All-State team.

(Above) 1968 basketball sendoff - The Clear Lake fire trucks and police cars escorted the basketball team out of town in 1968 on their way to their first ever State Basketball Tournament.  The 12-man team left in private cars for Des Moines.  There were 1,752 tickets sold at the high school.  Six school buses, averaging 35 students per bus, will make the trip to Des Moines to watch the Lions play Roosevelt at 3:15 p.m.

N. Darlene Wells

N. Darlene Wells, 87, of Ventura, died Sunday, March 11, 2018, at Concord Care Center, in Garner, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 16, 2018, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 301 S. Main St., Ventura, with Pastor Jesse Burns officiating.  Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, in Mason City, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake.

Nancy Lee Marston, 64, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died peacefully Monday, March 5, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A Celebration of Life was held Friday, March 9, 2018 at the Commons Georgian Lounge, University of Northern Iowa.  Memorials may be directed to the family to be donated to causes close to Nancy’s heart.

Lowell Russell Peterson

Lowell Russell Peterson, 88, of Clear Lake, died Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, in Mason City, Iowa.

Per Lowell’s wishes, his body has been cremated and no services are planned at this time.

Lowell was born on March 12, 1929, the son of Dewey and Gladys (Hansen) Peterson, in Popejoy, Iowa.  He married Gladys Olson Moore on Nov. 23, 1957, in Alden, Iowa.
