A Clear Lake man has been arrested in connection with a string of burglaries reported in Clear Lake last month.

Taylor Wigant, 24, has been charged with one count of third-degree burglary and four counts of attempted burglary after authorities accused him of breaking in to multiple vehicles on Jan. 21.

Wigant was booked into the Cerro Gordo County Jail on Tuesday, Feb. 20, and is being held on $5,000 bond.

A former custodian at Clear Creek Elementary School has entered a plea of not guilty on four counts of invasion of privacy.

While employed as a custodian with the Clear Lake School District, the 46-year-old David Bemis allegedly placed a video recording device in a staff bathroom at Clear Creek Elementary School, 901 S. 14th St.  The recording occurred in May 2013.

Ronald L. Anderson, 75, of Belmond, Iowa, formerly of Ventura, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2018, at Iowa Specialty Hospital, in Belmond.  He passed peacefully surrounded by the prayers of loving family.   

  Funeral services were held on Friday, Feb. 16, at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Belmond, with the Rev. Dawn Pederson officiating.  Burial was at Memorial Park Cemetery, in Mason City.
