Congratulations, Clear Lake. You did it!

With more than a week to spare The Giving Tree is beautifully bare, assuring that many local families will have an even merrier Christmas than they could imagine.

This year 190 ornaments appeared on The Giving Tree, representing 64 families.

The Mirror-Reporter has partnered with Clear Lake Schools to provide The Giving Tree for 28 years.  Each and every year all needs were met.

After spending half of the year under construction, the Main Avenue sidewalk restoration is nearing completion.  Crews were working on the last phase of the brick and concrete sidewalk replacement Monday.  According to Public Works Director Joe Weigel, concrete work was expected to be complete by mid-week, with installation of brick pavers to follow.  The project will be completed yet this year, he said.  The M

Committee disperses profits to three groups

The work of the Clear Lake RAGBRAI Committee began far in advance and continued even after bicyclists and their support crews rolled through.

The 2017 Clear Lake RAGBRAI Steering Committee did not officially conclude their responsibilities until Dec. 5, when the committee met to determine the disbursal of the $4,503.72 profit from the event.

(Above) Young’s Idleo, 1910 - In 1910, Contractor George Petersen and his crew constructed Young’s Idleo (pleasure hall) for R.S. Young. Ralph Frederick Schroeder, 98, of Clear Lake, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, in Mason City, Iowa.

Arrangements are pending at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake.
