Cardinals pay back Forest City

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura boys picked up two more big wins in action last week, including defeating Forest City, who they are now tied with for second place in the Top of Iowa Conference.  Bishop Garrigan leads the conference with a record of 8-1, while GHV and Forest City stand at 8-2.

The GHV boys had no problem handing North Iowa (2-7, 2-9) a 76-41 loss on Tuesday, Jan. 9, at home.

Clear Lake girls destroy competition

Two more wins last week moved the third rated (3A) Clear Lake girls to 12-1 overall and 7-0 in the North Central Conference.

This week the team will host Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Friday and then travel to play at Algona Tuesday, Jan. 23.  That game will be key in the race for a conference crown, as Algona is presently in second place in the standings with a 5-2 NCC record.

It was a day of disappointment for the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura wrestling team when they competed in the Lake Mills Dual Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 13.  The Cardinals dropped four duals at the tournament.

GHV is still plagued by not being able to fill a roster, as they forfeit numerous matches during each dual.  Jared Shaw, GHV’s top wrestler, was absent from the line-up on Saturday.

Dean C. Snyder

Dean Charles Snyder, 87, of Clear Lake, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at home on Jan. 13, 2018.

This is the day that the Lord has made – Dean’s motto was “No Bad Days” and he truly lived as such.
