Lester named to INA All-State team

The Iowa Newspaper Association announced its 2016 All-State Football selections Tuesday, Nov. 22.   Clear Lake’s Zach Lester was a first team selection in Class 2A.

Lester, a 6’1”, 175-pound junior, was selected as a defensive back on the Class 2A All-State team.

Newspaper office closed for holiday

The Clear Lake Mirror-Reporter office, located at 12 N. 4th St., will be closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 24-25, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.  The closing will not effect deadlines for the Nov. 30 issue of the newspaper.

Melinda “Mindy” K. Kavars, 54, of Mason City, Iowa, died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016, in Mason City.

Per her family’s wishes, her body has been cremated, and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions to the Crisis Intervention Center in Mason City.

Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, Mason City, was in charge of arrangements.

A firefighter’s friend

The drone was purchased with donations and is equipped with either a color camera or the FLIR night vision camera.
