Giving Tree requests surpass previous years

There’s still time to stop at the Mirror-Reporter office and choose your Giving Tree ornaments before the biggest shopping weekend of the year.

The need is great this year and help is needed to provide a Merry Christmas for more than 70 Clear Lake families.  A total of 210 ornaments are on the 27th annual Giving Tree displayed in the Clear Lake Mirror-Reporter office at 12 N. 4th St.  That number is one of the highest in recent years.

City will study extension of water service beyond State Park

City water service may be available to homes along South Shore Drive, located beyond Clear Lake State Park, in the foreseeable future.

City Administrator Scott Flory asked for the City Council’s permission Monday night to look into the possibility of extending water service in possible conjunction with improvements to County Road B-35 which are now in the planning stages.

Flory said he would like to identify the feasibility of extending water service to approximately 34 family dwellings in phase one.

Drivers celebrate as B-35 is re-opened

County Road B-35 between Clear Lake and Mason City re-opened to traffic over the weekend  The road, along with the Trolley Trail bike path which runs beside it, was closed in April and was delayed by wet weather.

Christie Ann Grattidge, 61, of Clear Lake, died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016, at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, in Mason City, Iowa.

Arrangements are pending at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake.
