Florence E. Collen, 95, of Clear Lake, died Tuesday, August 9, 2016 in Clear Lake surrounded by family.  A service will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Ward-Van Slyke, Clear Lake.  Family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice of North Iowa.

DNR enlists help of goats to clear invasive plants at Outdoor Classroom

Four Clear Lake players have been named to the All-North Central Conference baseball First Team, with four more receiving honors as Second and Third Team members.

Lion seniors Ben Mason, Ethan McHenry and Cooper Merrill were joined on the First Team by sophomore Zach Lester.

Peggy A. Gildea

Peggy Ann Gildea, 90, of Clear Lake, died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2016, at the I.O.O.F. Home in Mason City, Iowa.

Per Peggy’s wishes, her body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held in Arizona at a later date.

Peggy was born April 4, 1926, the daughter of Howard Walter and Ruth (Yohn) Cash, in Clear Lake.  She married Everett LaVern Gildea on April 21, 1946, at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church.

John Hemann officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, with military honors provided by the Clear Lake V.F.W. The family suggests memorials to Hospice of North Iowa.Morris was born on April 12, 1923, in rural Clear Lake, on the family farm, where he resided his entire life.
