Lions top Algona and IF-A in triangular

The Clear Lake boys golf team easily outdistanced North Central Conference rivals Algona and Iowa Falls-Alden in a triangular played Friday, April 29, at Highland Golf Club in Iowa Falls.  The Lions picked up the win with a 159.  Algona carded a 190 and IF-A finished with 193.

Clear Lake’s Thomas Storbeck was medalist with a round of 38.  Teammate Alex Snelling was runner-up with a 39.

It was a good week for the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura girls golf team, as they won one meet and finished as runner-up in another.  Bailee Frayne also had an excellent individual week, finishing as meet medalist and runner-up.

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura boys golf team picked up wins over Eagle Grove and North Iowa on Tuesday, April 26, in the last home meet of the season.  The Cardinals ended with a 166, while Eagle Grove had a 179.  North Iowa didn’t have a final score.

Boys tennis team dominates

CL 7, A-P 2

The Clear Lake boys competed in two meets during the past week.  The Lions hosted Aplington-Parkersburg on Monday, April 25.  The home team dominated, winning five singles and two doubles matches. On Friday, the team was at Iowa Falls.  They returned home with a 9-0 victory. With the wins, the Lions are now 5-1.
