Snyder gets bid for $2 million renovation at CL High School

Dean Snyder Construction, of Clear Lake, has been awarded the contract for renovation of the kitchen, commons and entrance to Clear Lake High School.

The firm was the low bidder for the work.  Their bid of  $2,104,000 was accepted at a special School Board meeting held Wednesday, March 30.  It was the lowest of three bids received.

CL Tel launches fiber optic network project

Clear Lake’s businesses and more residents will have access to high speed Gigabit Internet service – up to 100 times faster than the typical download speed - with a fiber optic network project launched this week by CL Tel.

“The City is extraordinarily fortunate that CLTel is committed to making Clear Lake a “Gigabit Community,” said Clear Lake City Administrator Scott Flory.  “This kind of cutting-edge technology is rarely available in Iowa and, in particular, in a community our size.”

Harry Popejoy Baago, 101, Clear Lake, died Monday, April 4, 2016 at his home surrounded by family.  A Celebration of Life for Harry and Ann Baago will be held from 3 - 6 p.m. Friday, April 22 at the Clear Lake Arts Center, Clear Lake.

Harry Popejoy Baago, 101, of Clear Lake, died Monday, April 4, 2016, at his home surrounded by family.

Ronald S. Glanville, 57, left our land “our world” on April 1, 2016, at his home in Clear Lake, following a battle with cancer.  He was the husband of Carrie for 21 years.

There will be a time of gathering of family and friends from 4:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2016, at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Lester "Les"  Ernest Godden, 91, of Mason City, formerly of Clear Lake, went to heaven on April, 2016, to be with his wife, Jean.  Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at the First Congregational Church, Clear Lake.  Visitation will be from 4 - 6 p.m. Monday, April 4 at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel.
