The farmers aren’t the only ones suffering through the weather this harvest season.  This hasn’t been a great year for pumpkin hunters either.  This duo was trying hard to find the perfect pumpkin on Saturday when they visited Plain Ol’ Pumpkins, located north of Clear Lake.  The Meyer family, owners of Plain Ol’ Pumpkins, welcomes those looking for some fun to check out their wide variety of pumpkins and family activities including photo opportunities,

Clear Lake Community Schools and the City of Clear Lake are interested in what the public has to say about a possible health/wellness center in Clear Lake.  As a follow up to three listening posts held in September, a website survey is now available to help gauge public support for the project.

Clear Lake School Board to offer early retirement incentives to employees

The Clear Lake School Board will offer an early retirement incentive to its certified employees and full-time classified employees for the first time since the 2016-17 school year.

The Board voted unanimously Tuesday night to offer qualifying certified staff members a 403b contribution equal to 80 percent of the employees’ current salary.  The employees also remain eligible to participate in the district’s health insurance plan at whatever level they choose until age 65.

Roc The Lake to be new summer event

A new event has been added to all of the summer fun Clear Lake provides.

Roc The Lake will take place at PM Park and its Tiki Bar Saturday, July 25, 2020.  The event features 11 hours of music played by four of the top cover bands in the country.

Loras “Pete” McLaughlin

Loras “Pete” McLaughlin, 87, of Clear Lake, passed away Monday, Oct. 7, 2019, at MercyOne North Iowa Hospice, Mason City.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Oct. 11, at Clear Lake Open Bible Church, 509 S. 17th St., Clear Lake, with Pastor Will Hunsaker officiating. Burial was at Clear Lake Cemetery, where military honors were conducted by the Clear Lake VFW Post 4868 Honor Guard.
