Loras “Pete” McLaughlin, 87, of Clear Lake, passed away Monday, Oct. 7, 2019, at MercyOne North Iowa Hospice, Mason City.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Oct. 11, at Clear Lake Open Bible Church, 509 S. 17th St., Clear Lake, with Pastor Will Hunsaker officiating. Burial was at Clear Lake Cemetery, where military honors were conducted by the Clear Lake VFW Post 4868 Honor Guard.

Jolene Lynn Boyd, 68, of Mason City, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019, at MercyOne North Iowa Hospice. in Mason City.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019, at Victory in Christ Free Methodist Church, 604 23rd St. SW, Mason City, with Pastor Jacki Basener officiating.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake. In lieu of customary remembrances, family suggests memorials to MercyOne North Iowa Hospice, in Mason City.

Adela “Lele” Walker, 97, of Escondido, Calif., died Saturday, July 13, 2019, in Escondido.

A graveside inurnment was held on Saturday, Oct. 12, at Clear Lake Cemetery, in Clear Lake.

Lele was born March 21, 1922, in Villalba, Puerto Rico. She met her future husband, Robert Walker, while he was on a work assignment in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and the two were married after a quick courtship on Dec. 15, 1955. To that union two children were born; daughter, Carmen, in 1958, in Chicago, Ill. and son, Bob, in 1961, in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Charles Herman Springer Jr. “Charlie,” 89, died at his home in Clear Lake on Saturday morning, Oct. 5, 2019.

Services were held on Friday, Oct. 11, at Hastings Funeral Home, in Perry, with burial in Violet Hill Cemetery.  A Celebration of Life Service will take place in Clear Lake at a later date.

Gloria Shaffer Cooley

Gloria Shaffer Cooley, 88, of Belmond, formerly Clear Lake, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019, at Iowa Specialty Hospital, in Belmond.

Per Gloria’s wishes, her body has been cremated and a private memorial service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, in San Diego, Calif.

In lieu of customary remembrances, family suggests memorial contributions to Gateway Hospice in Clarion, mailed to Pattie McLaughlin, 526 Winterside Dr., Apollo Beach, FL 33572.
